For most small and midsize stores, the best customer support app for Shopify is ThriveDesk, which puts email, live chat, an AI agent and Shopify order details in one flat-priced plan. Gorgias is the better pick for a Shopify-only team that edits, cancels and refunds orders inside every ticket.
Most Shopify support is a short list of questions that repeat: where is my order, can I change the address, how do I return this. Each answer needs the order on screen. When the support app cannot show it, agents copy order numbers between tabs and the customer waits. In peak season, that gap turns into a backlog.
Our seven picks, in order: 1) ThriveDesk, for one flat bill with AI included; 2) Gorgias, for order actions inside the ticket; 3) Richpanel, for customer self-service; 4) Re:amaze, for teams that also want SMS and voice; 5) eDesk, for stores that also sell on marketplaces; 6) Zendesk, for large teams with complex routing; and 7) Help Scout, for email-first teams. We checked every price on the app’s Shopify App Store listing or the vendor’s pricing page on 30 October 2026.
What is the best customer support app for Shopify?
The best customer support app for Shopify shows the order next to the message, answers routine questions without a person, and keeps the bill predictable in a busy month. No single app wins all three for every store. The right pick depends on your team size, your channels and how many orders you ship.
- Small or midsize team on email and chat: ThriveDesk, from $29 a month for the whole plan.
- Shopify-only team that changes orders all day: Gorgias, from $10 a month for 50 tickets.
- High order volume with many tracking questions: Richpanel and its self-service plan.
- Shopify plus Amazon or eBay: eDesk.
- Large team with strict routing and SLAs: Zendesk.
What a Shopify support app does
A customer support app for Shopify is a help desk that connects to your store. It collects email, chat and sometimes social messages in one queue. Then it shows the customer’s orders, tracking and history beside each conversation, so the agent does not open the Shopify admin to answer.
Shopify Inbox, the free app from Shopify, covers storefront chat. It does not give a team a shared email queue with owners and statuses. In practice, the difference shows once a second person answers customers. A help desk gives each conversation one owner, so two agents do not reply to the same shopper and a return request does not wait unseen. If you only need a chat box on the storefront, read our list of the best live chat apps for Shopify.
How we evaluated
We judged each app by how a lean Shopify team uses it.
- Order context: Does the agent see the order, tracking and customer history next to the message? Can the agent act on the order?
- Automation: Can an AI agent or a self-service flow answer order-status and return questions? What does each automated answer cost?
- Pricing model: Does the bill grow with seats, tickets or AI resolutions? What happens in a holiday month?
- Channels: Email and live chat at minimum, plus social, SMS or voice where the store needs them.
- Setup effort: Can a store owner set it up in an afternoon, without an administrator?

The 7 best customer support apps for Shopify in 2026
1. ThriveDesk: best for small teams that want one flat bill

ThriveDesk is AI customer service software for ecommerce: an agentic omnichannel helpdesk, intelligent chatbot, modern help center and powerful reporting, plus Neo, the AI agent that answers customers around the clock. Its Shopify integration is live. Email and live chat land in one shared inbox, and Shopify order details sit next to each conversation.
Neo answers from your help center, site pages and files in 50+ languages, 24/7, and resolves up to 65% of conversations without a person. With AI tools, it can look up a Shopify order and read its tracking. It hands the rest to your team by rules you set. In the chat widget, Neo can also send proactive messages and make in-chat upsells. Copilot works for your team: it searches past tickets and docs and drafts replies.
Pricing is flat per plan, with AI included and no fee per resolution. Basic costs $29 a month for 2 teammates and 1 inbox. Standard costs $69 for 5 teammates and 2 inboxes, and Unlimited costs $129 for unlimited teammates and 5 inboxes. On yearly billing, the plans cost $19, $49 and $99 a month. The 7-day free trial needs no credit card, and there is no free plan.
Limitations:
- Channels are email and the chat widget. WhatsApp and Messenger are not launched yet, and there is no built-in phone line.
- The Shopify integration is new. Gorgias has more years of Shopify order editing and a much larger base of Shopify reviews.
See the plans on the pricing page.
2. Gorgias: best for Shopify-only teams that act on orders
Gorgias is a help desk built around Shopify. Agents see a customer’s orders in the ticket and can edit, cancel or refund them without leaving the conversation. Its AI Agent answers order-status and policy questions, and macros fill in order data. It has a 4.3 rating from 708 reviews on the Shopify App Store.
The bill follows ticket volume. Starter costs $10 a month for 50 tickets and 3 agents. Basic costs $60 a month, or $50 billed yearly, for 300 tickets and unlimited agents, and extra tickets cost $0.40 each. The AI Agent costs $0.90 to $1.00 per automated interaction, and each one also counts as a ticket. A busy holiday month can cost much more than a quiet one.
Best for: Shopify-first brands with a dedicated support team that changes orders all day.
Limitations: Ticket and AI charges make the monthly bill hard to forecast. Our ThriveDesk and Gorgias comparison shows both bills side by side.
3. Richpanel: best for customer self-service
Richpanel pairs a help desk with a self-service portal. Customers can track an order, start a return or exchange, and get product recommendations without an agent. The listing says the self-service flows resolve up to 50% of issues on their own. Channels include email, chat, phone, Facebook and Instagram. Richpanel has a 4.9 rating from 136 reviews.
PRO costs $89 a month per user, or $828 a year, and AI conversations start at $0.20 each. The Self Service plan costs $119 a month, plus $299 for each extra 20,000 orders. Every plan has a 14-day free trial.
Best for: High-volume stores where most tickets are about tracking, returns and exchanges.
Limitations: At $89 per user, a five-person team pays $445 a month before AI conversations. The listing shows no free plan.
4. Re:amaze: best for teams that also want SMS and voice
Re:amaze puts email, social messages, live chat and chatbots in one queue on every plan. The Pro plan adds SMS and VoIP integrations, a live view of store visitors, a status page and support for more than one store. The Plus plan adds staff shifts, departments, satisfaction surveys and co-browsing. It has a 4.4 rating from 180 reviews.
Basic costs $29 a month per staff user, Pro $49 and Plus $69, with 10% off on yearly billing. Each plan includes AI Agent resolutions per user per month: 5 on Basic, 10 on Pro and 20 on Plus. The free trial lasts 14 days.
Best for: Teams that want phone, text and chat in the same tool as email.
Limitations: The price grows with every staff user, and the included AI allowance is small. A three-person Basic team gets 15 AI resolutions a month. Compare it in our Re:amaze comparison.
5. eDesk: best for stores that also sell on marketplaces
eDesk brings Shopify messages into the same workspace as marketplace messages. Reviewers on the listing say it collects Amazon and eBay messages in one inbox and lets staff cancel orders and issue refunds across channels. It has a 4.7 rating from 32 reviews.
Starter costs $59 a month, or $588 a year, for 300 tickets and 1 store or marketplace. Growth costs $199 a month for 1,000 tickets and 3 stores, and Professional costs $399 for 2,000 tickets and 10 stores. Each plan has a 14-day free trial.
Best for: Brands that sell on Shopify, Amazon and eBay and want one queue for all of them.
Limitations: The ticket caps are tight for a busy Shopify-only store, and some reviewers mention a learning curve. The listing does not show what AI answers cost.
6. Zendesk: best for large teams with complex routing
Zendesk is the enterprise option on this list. It handles detailed routing, SLAs, many brands and voice, and its marketplace connects it to almost any tool. The Shopify app brings order data into tickets. On the Shopify App Store, the app has a 3.2 rating from 95 reviews, the lowest on this list.
Suite Team costs $55 per agent a month on yearly billing, or $69 monthly. Suite Professional costs $115, or $149 monthly. Team includes 5 automated resolutions per agent each month and Professional 10. Extra resolutions cost $1.50 each when committed or $2.00 pay as you go. Copilot adds $50 per agent a month on yearly billing.
Best for: Multi-brand or multi-region teams with an administrator to run it.
Limitations: Five agents on Suite Team with Copilot pay $525 a month before extra resolutions. Our post on how Zendesk compares with Gorgias covers the Shopify side in more detail, and the Zendesk comparison covers ThriveDesk.
7. Help Scout: best for email-first teams
Help Scout is a shared inbox with a help center, called Docs, and a chat widget, called Beacon. Its free Shopify app shows order details and history in the conversation and lets agents edit, duplicate, cancel and refund orders. It has a 3.7 rating from 19 reviews. One 2024 review says customer and order tags do not show in the sidebar.
The free plan covers 5 users, 1 inbox, 1 Docs site and 100 contacts a month. Standard costs $25 per user a month, Plus $45 and Pro $75. AI resolutions cost $0.75 each. Standard and Plus have a 15-day free trial with no credit card.
Best for: Teams where most support is email and replies need a personal tone.
Limitations: The 100-contact cap on the free plan is low for a store with steady orders, and AI resolutions are metered. See our Help Scout comparison.
How to choose a customer support app for your Shopify store
Start with the questions your team answers most, then match them to an app.
- Most tickets are tracking and returns: pick an app whose AI or self-service flows read the order, such as ThriveDesk, Gorgias or Richpanel.
- Your team changes orders all day: Gorgias or Help Scout, which edit and refund orders from the conversation.
- You sell on marketplaces too: eDesk.
- You need phone and SMS in the help desk today: Re:amaze or Zendesk.
- Your team has 2 to 5 people and a fixed budget: compare ThriveDesk’s flat plans against per-user prices at your peak headcount.
Next, model the bill. Put your peak-month headcount and ticket count into the help desk cost calculator. A low starting price can turn into the largest invoice once tickets, seats and AI resolutions add up in November and December.
What each app costs a five-person team
Starting prices hide how each bill grows. Take a store with 5 agents and 1,000 tickets in a peak month, before any AI charges, on monthly billing where the listing gives it:
- ThriveDesk Standard: $69, because the plan covers 5 teammates and does not count tickets.
- Help Scout Standard: $125, at $25 per user.
- Re:amaze Basic: $145, at $29 per staff user, with 25 AI resolutions included.
- eDesk Growth: $199, which covers 1,000 tickets.
- Gorgias Basic: $340, which is $60 for 300 tickets plus 700 extra tickets at $0.40.
- Zendesk Suite Team: $345 monthly, or $275 on yearly billing.
- Richpanel PRO: $445, at $89 per user.
AI changes the order. If an AI agent answers 300 of those tickets, Gorgias adds about $270 to $300 at its per-interaction price, and Help Scout adds $225 at $0.75 each. Zendesk includes 25 resolutions for five Suite Team agents, so the other 275 add about $410 to $550. ThriveDesk includes Neo in the plan, so the same 300 answers add nothing. Your numbers will differ, so run the sum with your own headcount and volume.
What to test during a free trial
Every app on this list has a free trial or a free plan, so test with real tickets before you pay. Send the same three requests through each app: one tracking question, one address change and one return. Count how many clicks the agent needs and whether the order shows up without a search.
Then turn on the AI for a day and read its answers. Check that it quotes your real return window and shipping times, and that it hands off to a person when it should. Our guide to order and shipping support lists more questions worth testing.
Why Shopify teams choose ThriveDesk
ThriveDesk is built for a small team that answers email and chat for one store and wants a bill it can plan.
- Order details beside every chat: the Shopify integration shows the order next to the conversation, so agents answer without opening the admin.
- AI in the plan: Neo answers routine questions around the clock, and no resolution fee lands on the invoice.
- A fixed price: five teammates cost $69 a month on Standard, in a quiet month and in December.
